Among the most important organizations in Slovakia which deal with partial tasks in the area of radwaste management issues (legislation, production, treatment, transport, storage, disposal), the following state authorities, organizations and firms - business subjects with or without state participation - can be included:

State Health Institution
The State Health Institution, established by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, carries out state health supervision also in the field of protection against ionization radiation. Further it prepares basis for measures and decisions of health protection bodies and ensures specialized operations connected with health protection.

THE SUBSIDIARY OF THE COMPANIES SLOVENSKÉ ELEKTRÁRNE, INC.

A subsidiary of the state shareholding company Slovenské elektrárne - VYZ (Decommissioning of Nuclear Installations and Management of Radioactive Waste and Spent Fuel) was established on January 1, 1995. Its headquarter is on the site of the A-1 Bohunice plant, however, also the Republic Repository of Radwaste in Mochovce belongs to it. The main objectives of the VYZ now are the development of projects for A-1 decommissioning, treatment of radwaste from nuclear power plants, long-term storage of conditioned radwaste in the Republic Repository in Mochovce, safe storage of spent nuclear fuel, development of nuclear power plant decommissioning projects and disposal of all kinds of institutional radwaste in Slovakia.
